Editorial policy
How we research, write, check and update every guide.
- Sources first. Facts, figures and rules come from primary sources (government agencies, codes, manufacturer documentation) and are linked in every article.
- How we use AI. AI tools help us research and draft. Before publishing, every claim is checked against the linked sources and every link is tested. We don't yet have a licensed electrician or tax professional reviewing our guides. We do not publish unreviewed automated content.
- No invented numbers. Estimates are labeled as estimates, and calculations are shown so you can check them.
- Images. Photos are properly licensed (for example Creative Commons via Wikimedia Commons) and credited; diagrams are our own. See image credits.
- Updates. We review articles when rules change (for example, tax credits) and show the last-updated and source-checked dates.
- Corrections. Found an error? Tell us via the contact page, and we will correct it and note the date.
- Independence. If we add ads or affiliate links in the future, they will be clearly disclosed and will not change our recommendations.
